An Update on BikerFury

We wanted to thank everyone that has reached out to us about the inactivity here. We have been rather busy the last year and have not had the time to dedicate to BikerFury at the level we had hoped to.

With that being said, we are still going to update from time to time as well as ride. As we wrap up a ride we will be posting about it and over time we expect to have a rather nice list of rides that others can enjoy.

Our free membership area will remain in place, but the paid membership area will be removed in the coming weeks. We hope you continue to enjoy the rides we post here and hopefully we will cross paths.

Brakeaway Cruise Control

We recently purchased a Brakeaway Cruise Control for one of our motorcycles that did not have an option for electronic cruise. As this was for a Harley we purchased model 7CP06 and with the help of a friend we were able to install it using the instructions that came in the packaging.

While we were able to do the install ourselves we did rely on a good friend of ours who actually rebuilds motorcycles to help out. On a Harley, this is not a quick install and it is recommended that you make sure you have all the necessary tools before starting. All in all we had it installed, adjusted, and fully tested in under 3 hours. Could it be done quicker? Absolutely but hey sometimes you just need to catch up with your friends so you take your time.

The Brakeaway Cruise Control not only works well, but looks natural once you have it installed. It also has the added benefit of disengaging when you compress the hand break. While you can adjust your throttle while it is engaged and can release it with the press of a button it is really nice not to have to remember to disengage it when breaking quickly. The brake release is the exact reason we decided on the Brakeaway and not a basic throttle lock.

This particular cruise control fits most 1996 and newer Harley Davidson Motorcycles with throttle cables

  • Attaches to the grip between the grip and the switch housing. Fits all Harley Davidson cable type grips.
  • Will NOT work with Fly by Wire
  • All Harley installations MUST have clear access to the bottom of the brake pivot pin. Some turn signal mounts cover the pin, these will have to be re-located to mount this product.

Brakeaway offers cruise controls for Harley-Davidson, Honda, Indian, Yamaha, Triumph, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Victory.

Cruising down the highway on your motorcycle will be much more enjoyable when you have a cruise control to maintain a steady speed and not have to worry about the throttle every second of the ride.  If you are looking for an after market cruise control solution for your motorcycle and you want something that looks integrated with the factory controls and has convenience and safety built in then this is what you are looking for.

Sena Sound System

We recently decided to upgrade our blue tooth communication systems in our helmets. After looking at all the options we settled on the Sena 50S.

The Cardo was a close second, but we liked the Sena better. So far we have been using the 2 units we purchased for about 4 months now. The sound quality of the music is really good, the sound quality of our conversations with each other is a bit scratchy but still good. Overall we enjoy being able to talk to each other and listen to our music when nothing is needed to be said.

We did notice that if you do not set up a private mesh channel there are other riders out there that utilize the open channels and while in range they are part of your group and can participate in your conversation. So be careful what you say if on an open mesh channel.

Lake Harris Hideaway

This is a popular destination for those who ride in Central Florida. Not only is this place located directly on Lake Harris, but it also offers plenty of views of the water. On the weekends they have live music, and the typically reserve the paved parking lot of Motorcycles only (with the exception of 1 spot reserved for the live entertainment)

They offer food and a full service bar. They also have docks for those who want to arrive via boat.

Be aware of two things.

  1. They do have gators around (normally not an issue, but you can see them in the water where the boats dock)
  2. Most of the time food service is slow, so plan enough time for them to prepare and serve your food. This is not a place to stop if you are expecting a quick lunch and getting back on the road.

Location/Hours/Contact Information:

Ozello Trail Ride

Between Homosassa Florida and Crystal River Florida is the Ozello Trail.

This is a two lane blacktop stretch of road that is about 9.5 miles long and has around 65 curves. It has water views, marshland views, and near the end of the trail it has a restaurant on the right hand side that you can stop at for food/drinks.

Since this road ends at the ocean, you will get the enjoyment of riding it a second time as you head back to Hwy 98.

Because of the views, the curves, and the food this is a trip we take at least once a year and if you are visiting the area we recommend the ride (or drive) to anyone that has not experienced it before. Keep in mind that there are many sharp curves and not everyone stays on their side of the road, so take it easy and enjoy the ride.
