If you are planning a longer than normal ride with friends and going into an area where fuel is hard to find you should do 2 simple things.
1. Put a turkey baster in your saddle bag.
– This way if someone runs out of fuel you can go to each of the other riders tanks and get just a little bit of fuel and add it to the empty tank.
– This could save you hours of waiting on the side of the road.
– Remember to take this out of your saddle bag and inspect it from time to time. Rubber and plastic tend to break down in the heat and over time.
2. Fill a metal thermos (or two) with some additional fuel.
– Don’t use plastic bottles as the fuel can eat through the plastic.
